An inclusive, Christ-centered community making a difference.

As the Rev. Susan S. Shafer prepares for her upcoming retirement this summer, the Asbury First family plans to honor her with a celebratory dinner, and a chance for all to participate in honoring her.

Holy Superhero: The Spirituality of Superheroes
April 23, 30, May 7, 14
6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Gathering Center

Whether you are able to leap tall buildings in a single bound or can just barely manage to fight off the common cold, we invite you to a discussion of the spirituality of the comic heroes we all know and love. Whether you love Marvel or DC, whether you prefer flight or invisibility, whether you are young or old, we welcome you to our discussion of how the themes of these stories of good and evil might inform, or be informed by, our faith. We will meet for four sessions from 6:30-8:00 p.m. beginning on April 23 in the Gathering Center. All ages are welcome, but children under ten should be accompanied by a parent. Childcare is available by request. The first two nights will feature a younger child-friendly activity during the first half hour. Asbury First's Fifth Annual Talent Show is Around the Corner! We'll celebrate the many skills and abilities of our talented members and friends on May 9 in Fellowship Hall.

As Asbury First's beloved senior minister, the Rev. Susan S. Shafer, prepares for retirement in June, plans are underway to honor her through the creation of a Pastoral Care Endowment. Through the establishment of this fund, Susan's pastoral example of 34 years of dedicated service to our faith community will be followed for years to come.

Tent Week is returning to Asbury First this summer!

Our first-ever Tent Week, held in 2014, brought more than 1,000 people to our church campus to enjoy a community jam, a health night, an interfaith festival, the "Brainery Spectacular," and much more. For this year's event, we want YOUR input to make the week even better.

Yoga for Two & Chocolate Tasting at Asbury First

Asbury First is planning a unique pre-Valentine's Day event on Friday, February 13 from 6-8 pm: a session of light yoga designed for couples of all sorts, followed by a chocolate tasting.

At the annual church conference, held on January 18, members of Asbury First overwhelmingly voted in favor of a reconciling statement welcoming all to the church.

Asbury First's minister for faith formation, the Rev. Dr. Stephen M. Cady II, has been named the next senior minister for the church. He will assume his new role on July 1, 2015 upon the retirement of the current senior minister, the Rev. Susan S. Shafer.

Hang onto your life preserver! Asbury First is hosting its first-ever mini Vacation Bible School this February.
