The Asbury Dining & Caring Center is a major outreach ministry of Asbury First United Methodist Church. Located on the lower floor of 1010 East Avenue, the Center provides meals and other services for the homeless and hungry in the Rochester community with generosity and compassion. When the Center started in 1993, soup and sandwiches were served to eight guests the first day; a total of 1,535 meals were served that first year. Today, the Dining & Caring Center serves four breakfasts, one lunch, and a Sunday dinner each week. Currently, we serve more than 24,000 meals each year. We've evolved in other ways, too. The Dining & Caring Center supports a bicycle ministry program that supplies free refurbished bikes to our guests. It also provides free laundry facilities, showers and haircuts, and much, much more! ![]() All of this happens through the work of more than 250 volunteers with the support of some paid staff. THANKSGIVING 2009 This year, the Dining & Caring Center hosted its first Thanksgiving Dinner! With more than 65 volunteers and 120+ guests, it was a huge success, filled with good food, good conversation, and camaraderie between all who were there, both guests and servers alike.
